Sierra College featured in Alumni Magazine

Affinity Online a magazine for California Community College Alumni featured the Sierra College Energy Technology Photovoltaic program an an article called Solar Energy Systems Program. It features Stephanie Ortiz and Michael Kane, both with Sierra College,  who established the new photovoltaic  technician program.

Green entreprenuers expected to blossom

The Center for Small Business and the Environment in Washington, DC published Small Wonders, a 64 page report predicting that small business entrepreneurs will have the greatest impact on our recovering from the recession, adding jobs, boosting the economy and solving environmental problems. The report highlights 101 small companies that made going green an integral part of their business plan.

Sierra College has benefited from advisers, who work for innovative small businesses and utilities in Placer and Nevada counties near Sacramento, CA, who helped develop the new Energy Technology Photovoltaic certificate program.

Community College Green Summit

California Community Colleges will convene at a Green Technology Summit in Pasadena on October 5-7, 2009. Colleges are providing the workforce training to prepare employees to fill new green jobs. The Green Technology Magazine describes many of the educational initiatives designed to meet the growing need for qualified employees.

At Sierra College in Rocklin, CA the new Energy Technology program that starts in fall 09 will train people to work in the photovoltaic field.
